What is BIO-SUDZ?

Jobe has taken existing quality products and improved them using only “readily biodegradable” ingredients to enhance cleaning ability and foam stability. They are now considered “Readily Biodegradable”. In addition, Jobe manufactures all of its own products and recycles all residual water. Not a drop goes down the sewer!

What is Readily Biodegradable?

Everything will eventually biodegrade - decompose.  Leave a Styrofoam cup in the ground and it will biodegrade in 500 years! However, the recognized standards for biodegradability require that only products containing materials that break down and decompose into elements found in nature within a reasonably short amount of time when they are exposed to air, moisture and bacteria or other organisms should be marketed as either “Ultimately” or “Readily” biodegradable.

Is every product labeled biodegradable really biodegradable?

Many products on the market today are labeled “Biodegradable” or “Environmentally Friendly”. They may be green in color, printed on green labels and have pictures of trees and forests on them.  In fact, there are only two types of Biodegradability recognized by the EPA: Ultimately and Readily Biodegradable.

According to The Consumer Union: ” Claims used on many products are not independently verified. They are often placed on the product by the manufacturer.”

Why can Jobe refer to the Bio-Sudz” line as Readily Biodegradable?

Jobe’s “Bio-Sudz” products meet the criteria of the Modified Sturm 301B test for Biodegradability.

What’s the difference between “Readily Biodegradable” and products that have a recognized “Green” designation?

When you see the word “Green” on a product it means that the ingredients may have been screened for potential human health and environmental effects and that—based on currently available information, EPA predictive models, and expert judgment—the product contains only those ingredients that pose the least concern among chemicals in their class. It does  NOT necessarily mean that product meets the criteria for “ultimately” or “readily” biodegradability.
